They glue the panel, tape it in place, wait for it to cure... and then discover what happened. Yepâjust as you guessed. Excess silicone squeezes out, leaving your lovely Lotus looking less lovely than you hoped.Double-sided tape?It seems to work... at first. Then you drive over a few bumps. The panel moves just enough to create an annoying rattle. Not muchâbut enough to drive you crazy.Drilling through the panel?Yes, some owners do this, and it works. But drilling through your interior trim isn't for everyone. It's your Lotus, your choice.Of course, you can also buy a replacement panel. We completely understand that option, but there are two challenges:Your trim panel may still look almost brand new except for the broken pin.If you're a Lotus owner, you probably know that sometimes the replacement part is... exactly the same.
